The Facebook Virus: What It Is, and How to Avoid It.

Ok, here is the basics.  This virus is a Social Virus.  You get it from a friend, or so you think you do.

1. The Message

You get a message saying something along the lines of: “Hey dude, some webcam caught you with your girl friend at your house.”

Nasty, right?

The virus may not say that exact line, but the basic idea is that it says: “You got caught on video”
You go to what appears to be a YouTube link, but is actually a fake video website.

2. The Virus

When you go there, a window pops up telling you you need to update your “Flash Player” so, most of you knowing a little bit about the Flash player, and assuming it is legit, you download the file.
When you run the download, it installs a virus on your computer.  This virus may do other stuff besides attack your Facebook account.  It is confirmed that it will send the same message in Step 1 to all your friends.

How to Avoid It

The way to avoid this virus is to not click on those links you get in your inbox.  Do not download any “Flash Update,” unless it is from a site you trust.  Also, if you get a message sent by this virus by a friend, please reply to it, warning them they have been infected, and so they can tell their friends what happened.
